Everton have had an
extremely disappointing end to their
Premiership season. At one point David
Moyes's side had their eyes set on a
Champions League place, but this dream
really has fallen by the wayside since
an injury to key midfielder Tim Cahill,
and the Toffees now find themselves with
only one win in their last eight games,
and that was against bottom side Derby
1-0.
It is evident that the major
problem facing the side is the lack of
firepower up front, with Yakubu and Andy
Johnson struggling in front of goal.
Everton have only scored five goals in
their last eight Premiership matches,
and I'm sure the fans will be hoping
David Moyes dips into the transfer
market during the summer. They now face
a Newcastle side who can be full of
optimism for next season after putting
together a string of excellent results.
.
It
took a long time coming, but Kevin Keegan
finally managed to stop the rot and take his
Newcastle side away from the relegation
places and into mid table security, and his
team now look much more threatening.
Although they were defeated 2-0 at home to
Chelsea last Monday, that was only their
first defeat in their last eight games, and
they are unbeaten in their last four away
trips.
Betfair currently price the Everton home win
as 1.97, while the draw is 3.55 and the away
win is 4.7.
I really haven't been impressed by Everton
over recent weeks, and it is clear that even
though they have had a great season, the
players are looking a little worn out, which
is not surprising as they really have
performed at a level higher than was
expected. Newcastle look like a team eager
to make up for their dismal run of form mid
season, and they look like a side who
don't really want the season to end as
they are on an upward curve.
Betfair offer a
free £25 bet on this game
and a LAY of Everton @ 1.97 looks a decent
call.
When Gary Neville is scoring goals for
you then you really do look to have
problems, and Newcastle simply look more
threatening going forward at the moment,
with Martins, Michael Owen and Mark Viduka
causing alot of problems.
Everton do have a
rock solid defence, but I think if Newcastle
can score once that should be enough, as I
can't see Everton scoring two or three goals
against a Newcastle defence that has only
conceded four goals in their last eight
Premiership games.
With a battling midfield of Joey Barton,
Geremi and Nicky Butt, Newcastle can hold
the Toffees to at least a draw.
