One thing that has
impressed me recently is Chelsea boss
Avram Grant's ability to make decisions
at the right times. He kept faith with
Chelsea striker Didier Drogba last
Sunday as the Ivory Coast hitman finally
proved his doubters wrong by banging in
two late goals to beat Arsenal in the
huge Premiership 'Super Sunday'
I still
have a sneaky feeling that Chelsea could
surprise everyone by ripping the
Premiership crown from the hands of Alex
Ferguson come May, and I for one will be
having a a little flutter on them.
Anyway, that's another story, but we
must acknowledge the excellent current
form of Chelsea, which has seen them win
four of their last five, and they are
unbeaten in the Premiership since a
defeat at Arsenal on 16th December.
They
will be looking to keep the pressure on
Man Utd Utd by taking all three points
today against Middlesbrough, who are
themselves proving a difficult team to
beat
at the moment.
Boro
boss Gareth Southgate is once again proving
his doubters wrong after each game as he
continues to grind out good results, with
only two defeats in his last eight games in
the Premiership. Their away form is
equally as impressive, with three draws out
of their last four against Arsenal, Aston
Villa and Newcastle, and their only loss
came against Liverpool 3-2. This form even resulted in a call up to the England
squad for defender David Wheater against
France midweek.
Bookmakers price this one up as the Chelsea home win
1/3, the
draw is 4/1 while a
Blackburn away win is 11/1.
Bet365 offer a
free £100
bet on this game and at
1/3 I'm prepared to lump on Chelsea today.
This really is a must win game for the Blues
and I'm sure they will not slip up against
Boro.
I do think Boro will cause problems
for Chelsea and quite possibly they will
find the net, as Aliadiere, Tuncay and
Downing are causing problems for teams at
the moment, but in all honesty they were
pretty unconvincing defensively against
Derby last week, and Chelsea are on a
different level altogether. I'm sure with
the wealth of attacking options at the
disposal of Avram Grant, the Blues
will not slip up today.
