Chelsea come into this
game with the bitter disappointment of
throwing away a 3-1 lead midweek against
Spurs to only come out of that game with
a 4-4 draw. The Blues find themselves
as many people's favourites to be the team to
stand up to Man Utd and today's game
with Arsenal really is a must win fro
both sides.
Avram
Grant's side are five points behind Alex
Ferguson's men, but they do come into
this huge Premiership tie with a good
record, unbeaten in eight games and
winning five of those. What will be
pleasing for Grant is the return to form
of Didier Drogba, who scored his first
Premiership goal since returning from
the African Cup of Nations last
Wednesday.
They face an Arsenal side who
have failed to maintain their
Premiership challenge, although they are
in second place three points behind Utd
they look like a team which has run out
of steam.
For
the neutral it is very disappointing to
Arsenal's title challenge ebb away, but if they
are to catch Utd they must win this
game today. The main cause of concern is
that the Gunners have drawn their last four
in the Premiership, and this includes games
against lowly Birmingham, Middlesbrough and
Wigan, games which in all reality they
should have won comfortably.
They are still
unbeaten in their last eight but for me the
team simply isn't playing well enough at the
moment to challenge. Their main goal scoring
outlet, Emanuel Adebayor has gone quiet
recently, and if he leaves his scoring boots
in the tunnel, then the Gunners do look very short, with Van Persie coming back
from a lengthy injury lay off, Eduardo out
for a while and Bendtner looking a little
too fresh faced at the moment to take on the
scoring mantle.
Chelsea are the favourites for this game
across the board, a best priced 5/4, while
the stalemate is 9/4 and the Arsenal away
win is 5/2.

bet on this game and at 5/4 I
simply have to go for the Chelsea home win
today. Chelsea really look like they are up
for the challenge to catch Utd, as
demonstrated by scoring four goals against
Spurs midweek, while in all honesty Arsenal
look like a team which has one eye on the
Champions League.
To put it in perspective,
Arsenal have only scored four goals in their
last four games, while Chelsea have found
the net 15 times. This tells a story and I
feel that at this present moment, The Blues
are playing the better football and have
many more attacking options, which is why
they can simply outscore Arsenal today.
