Blackburn find
themselves in mid table in the
Premiership. and will be looking to kick
on from here on until the end of the
season to try and claim a UEFA place.
They were disappointing last week as
they went down to West Ham at Upton Park
2-1, however the recent form has been
good with only two losses in their last
eight games.
The main trouble why they
are not higher in the league is the fact
that they keep drawing matches,
especially at home, where they have
drawn three out of their last four at Ewood Park. If they do not qualify for a
UEFA spot their fans will look back at
these matches and look at the points
dropped, and these could be extremely
important come May. They now face a
resurgent Wigan side, who seem to be
putting their relegation worries behind
them as they storm away from the
relegation quagmire.
It
has to be said that Steve Bruce has done an
extremely good job at Wigan and his side are
now playing some cracking football, with
only one defeat in their last six. In their
last game they had England old boy Emile
Heskey to thank, he slotted the ball home to
give the Latics a 1-0 home in over Bolton.
Not surprisingly the bookmakers have made
Blackburn favourites to win this tie at 4/5,
while the draw is 13/5 and the Wigan away
win is 4/1.
I have to say that I've been really
impressed with Wigan recently. They showed
great character last weekend as they beat
Bolton even though they went down to ten men
from the 5th minute onwards, Koumas being
sent off, and their
recent results have been impressive, most
notably a 0-0 draw at the JJB with Arsenal.
Bet365 offer a
free £100
bet on this game and I'm
prepared to give Wigan a head start and go
with Wigan +0/75 at 10/11.
Mark Hughes's Blackburn are having a great
season, but they are having trouble putting
sides away, with three draws in their last
four at home, and I feel that Wigan are the
type of side who can stand up to them.
In their last away trip, Wigan drew 0-0 with
Man City, and I would put Blackburn in the
same category.
Wigan are strong at set
pieces, with Sharner and Heskey always a
threat and with a +0.75 start on the
handicap, I'm sure we can produce another
winning bet here today.
