Its been a strange sort
of season for Arsene Wenger's Arsenal
side. It was only a month or two ago
that they had a five or six point lead
over their rivals at the top, but after
a disastrous run of form they now find
themselves safe in the knowledge of a
Champions League spot, but they know if
they had a bit more quality on the bench
then it could have been so different.
It
seems that now they know they cannot win
the league, the team has no pressure on
them and are playing in a much more
relaxed atmosphere. The Gooners have won
their last two games on the bounce,
beating Reading 2-0 and demolishing
Derby 6-2 at Pride Park last Monday.
They now face an Everton side finishing
the season in a disappointing fashion,
surrendering the battle for fourth spot
in the Premiership rather easily to
their neighbours Liverpool.
.
David
Moyes and the rest of the Everton faithful
will be a little worried about the teams
form, as in recent weeks they haven't really
offered much going forward, and since the
injury to their influential midfielder Tim
Cahill the Toffees do look a little void of
ideas going forward.
With only five goals
scored in their last seven Premiership
encounters they are really struggling and
when Phil Neville scores you really do look
to have problems!
The bookmakers make Arsenal favourites at
1.75 (8/11), the draw is 3.25 (11/4) and the
Everton away win is 6.0 (5/1).
Betfair offer a
free £25 bet on this game
and at 1.75 there is definite value on an
Arsenal win.
The Gooners seem to be playing with
enthusiasm and optimism at the moment,
thrashing Derby last week, and I think they
can simply outscore their opponents today.
With Adebayor scoring a hat trick last
Monday and Bendtner and Van Persie all
chipping in Arsenal have a confident front
three, and quite simply Everton do not look
dangerous enough going forward. To win this
game I have a feeling they will have to
score two or three, which looks highly
unlikely at the moment.....
.....Unless Phil Neville dons the number
nine shirt of course!
We don't think so.
