Its been a strange
couple of weeks for Arsene Wenger's
Arsenal side. On the one hand, they are
slowly surrendering the Premiership lead
to Man Utd after failing to win any of
their last three games, the Gunners
drawing against Wigan, Aston Villa and
Birmingham, while they then go to the
San Siro and beat AC Milan 2-0 in the
Champions League. It must be pretty
difficult being an Arsenal fan at the
moment!
The Gunners have been misfiring
recently, which has seen their lead at
the top cut to only two points, and the
signs are not good as
Man Utd do have a game in hand. They now
face Gareth Southgate's Middlesbrough
side, who are struggling to find wins
but are proving to be a stubborn team to
overcome.
Middlesbrough
were really dealt a confidence sapping blow
as they went out to Championship side
Cardiff 2-0 at the Riverside last Sunday,
although we must take our hats off to
Southgate as his team responded well to take
a point against Aston Villa at Villa Park on
Wednesday night.
It seems Boro can now put
their Premiership relegation scare behind
them, as they are slowly pulling away from
the dreaded trapdoor. This is mainly due to
some excellent recent form which has seen
them lose only twice in their last eight
games, and away from the Riverside they are
equally impressive, with only one loss in
their last four away travels.
Not surprisingly, Arsenal are heavy
favourites for this game at 2/7, while the
draw is 9/2 and Boro look great value at
12/1 for the away victory.
I do like the look of Middlesbrough today
and 12/1 is massive value, considering the
form of both these teams. I'm not sure Boro
can actually win the game but I'm prepared
to give them some help with the handicap.
Bet365 offer a
whopping
free £250
bet on this game and
Middlesbrough +1.5 @ 11/10 looks one of the
bets of the weekend.
Lets face it, Arsenal have been woeful in
the league recently, while Boro's last four
aways have been a draw at Aston Villa, a
narrow loss at Liverpool 3-2, a draw at
Newcastle and a draw at Blackburn.
As much
as Middlesbrough are unfashionable and do
not have their fair share of backers, I cannot
help but feel that Boro on the handciap is a cracking bet and
I'll be taking a hefty chunk of that
free
£250 at Bet365 @ 11/10.
