UEFA Super Cup | Challenge Cup Final | Old Firm

Weekend Betting News

Man United v Zenit St Petersburg- UEFA Super Cup
In 1999 Sir Alex Ferguson played Lazio in this cup and didn’t take it seriously. Lazio did and they rubbed United’s nose in it afterwards. Fergie vowed that it would not happen again, so we can take it that United will be up for this one...The Challenge Cup Final- Hull v St Helens ...This is always good entertainment. This year Hull take on St Helens, and with a handicap of -16 the Saints should really fancy their chances. But as we know cup finals are great levellers so Hull will not shy away from the fight...... Celtic v Rangers..... Some football matches make the hair stand up on the back of your neck and this one is right up there. This is the first Old Firm clash of the season so there’s added spice, and Celtic Park will be absolutely buzzing at 12.45 on Sunday. Well worth watching......Aston Villa v Liverpool & Chelsea v Tottenham.....Two decent live matches on Sunday to compliment the roast. First up is Chelsea v Tottenham at Stamford Bridge (1.30pm), followed by Aston Villa v Liverpool at 4.00pm. Both games should be lively encounters and could go either way....
La Liga Season commences.....It’s good to have Spanish Football back as we kick off with Valencia v Mallorca on Saturday and then a Sunday double header involving the two teams that will probably fight out the finish- Barcelona away to Numancia and then Real Madrid away to Deportivo....US Open - Flushing Meadow...The US Open is beginning to crank up a notch as the early rounds are completed. No massive surprises yet but there will be. Andy Murray is playing well and maybe the British sporting feel good factor after the Olympics will continue to roll on….and on.....Arsenal v Newcastle.....Saturday evening’s match is from the Emirates Stadium, and the Gunners will want to erase the painful memory of losing to Fulham last week by putting the Geordies to the sword. King Kev will have other ideas and Owen should play a full game...

England v Czech Republic | Midweek International Friendlies

There’s some top quality international soccer betting this Wednesday night- With Spain’s success at Euro 2008 consigned to the history books, its time to look forward to the 2010 World Cup. European nations will soon start their bids to make the plane for South Africa, including England, looking to wipe out the painful memory of failure under Steve McLaren. His successor, Fabio Capello, has one last friendly to find the right blend, as the Three Lions host the Czech Republic at Wembley on Wednesday night, one of a host of friendlies on the soccer betting menu.

23 Men Ready to Run Through Brick Walls
England’s Joe Cole has said that the 23 men of Fabio Capello’s England squad are ‘read to run through brick walls for each other’ as they bid to wipe out the painful memories of a failure to qualify for Euro 2008. Cole and his countrymen face the Czech Republic at Wembley on Wednesday night and the bookies price England at around 8/11 with the Czechs a loongish 9/2

The Czechs return to the site of their Euro 1996 final appearance in a transition phase after the departure of coach, Karel Bruckner, who left following early elimination from Euro 2008, after seven years in charge. He is succeeded by Petr Rada, who inherits a talented team, that needs to emulate some recently retired greats such as Jan Koller and Pavel Nedved, but is without his best out-field player, captain, Tomas Rosicky, recovering from hamstring injury.
Though this is only a friendly, England under Capello, have a point to prove, and a dubious public to win over, so they will be gunning for the win. Check out our football free bets on the match.
Elsewhere on the night, John Toshack's Wales are a short looking 4/6 to triumph at home to Georgia, while Scotland are 8/11 to overcome close rivals N. Ireland.

Aren't we all glad the football is finally back!

The Football League Kicks Off!

This weekends betting news and action:

The Football League Returns... &
It's been a long time coming but it's finally here. The new football season kicks off on Saturday and fans up and down the country will be frothing at the mouth at the mere thought of it. At last we can reclaim Saturday afternoons...The Championship is a notoriously difficult league. It's full of big clubs with big histories and big ambitions, but only three will reach the promised land of Premier League football. Birmingham City, Reading and QPR head the betting, but it really is wide open...
Coca Cola League One
On the face of it both Leeds United and Leicester City should be the dominant forces this season. They have the clout to keep up a sustained push for the title and it's hard to see past them. The new boys - MK Dons and Peterborough have also been touted to do well...
Coca Cola League Two
This league is also wide open with Bradford City and Shrewsbury Town both heading the market. It would be good to see a historic club like Bradford City go up, but they have flattered to deceive on too many occasions. Shrewsbury with Grant Holt and managed by Paul Simpson could well be a force...
Scottish Premier League
With Rangers still reeling from their shock exit from European football, their attention can turn to the domestic scene to possibly make amends. Their age old rivalry with Celtic could go either way this season and it is sure to go down to the wire. Any opposition to them will probably come from Dundee United, Aberdeen or Hearts...
USPGA Championship
The USPGA Championship has started from the famous Oakland Hills in Detroit and so far the course is holding its own. With the leaders on two under after the first round it is all to play for, and maybe the possibility of an elusive European win in the USPGA could become reality. There's betting in running throughout...
The Beijing Olympics
The Beijing Olympics starts today and the omens are good for Britain to bag a decent medal tally. We have a host of markets covering a wide range of the sports on offer from Athletics to Judo to Canoeing. You can even watch it while having your breakfast...
England v South Africa- The 4th Test
All eyes will be on Kevin Pietersen as the series with South Africa comes to a close. Will the gilded one start his reign as captain with a victory, or will the Boks send him back to the pavilion with his tail between his legs. It's all intriguing stuff and should be cracking entertainment...

Emirates Cup Betting | Arsenal

Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium hosts the Emirates Cup this weekend with four top European clubs featuring on the pre-season bill. Any meeting of giants of the game Juventus, Arsenal and Real Madrid, all potential Champions League opponents, along with Hamburg, will provide a significant indicator for the season to come. Fabregas attempting to dispel rumours linking him with Real Madrid meeting his potential suitors on Sunday makes for a fascinating highlight to the tournament. Dont forget to pick up your free bets & use our online bookmakers guide.

Other Betting Opportunities:
With Zidane absent to defend his Bluesq.com Stewards' Cup crown, the market has been blown open. High draws will suit Prime Defender and the Scottish Stewards' Cup winner Knot’s Wood, both hot candidates amongst a 28 strong field to win the six furlong sprint in what is a highlight of the flat season.

England V South Africa & Sri Lanka V India
As both these test matches, and the series they contribute to, hang so finely in the balance it's anyone's guess who will come out on top. A huge part has been played by the media following the first tests, with the selection debacle that has overshadowed much of England's efforts and uproar after India's defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka, it's time to let the cricket do the talking this weekend..

Hungarian Grand Prix
Will Lewis Hamilton make it three in a row and continue his reign at the top of the drivers championship? This weekend sees the Hungarian grand prix live from Budapest and Hamilton who won this race in 2007 will be looking to keep the Ferrari duo of Massa and Raikkonen at a safe distance. Tune in from 1.00pm Sunday…
