Ronnie O Sullivan - Character or Clown?

Ronnie O Sullivan recently got knocked out of the China Open by Marco Fu. His comments in the post match interview were not exactly out of the Steve Davis Snooker etiquette handbook. What do you think? Have a listen!

Being English isnt all bad....

At least the cricket team gave us something to cheer about this week. Considering we were trounced by New Zealand in the First Test to come back and win the 3-match series is a tremendous effort and the football coaching staff could learn a lot from the cut-throat selection policies which provided the backbone to the win.

Harmison has been desperate over the past few years, particularly on Tour and the selectors were right to give him the boot. Although Hoggard had a poor game at Hamilton the decision to bin him was surprising and was against the views of many England fans- but it worked. Imagine if England dropped Gerrard and Rooney every time they had a bad game...

England are indebted to Ryan Sidebottom as he was the spearhead of our attack and took a whopping 24 wickets at an impressive 17.08. Without him we would've been tonked but New Zealand can take a lot of credit from the way they attacked despite having a terribly-weakened team on paper. The game was also played in a terrific spirit throughout. Australia, take note.
Despite losing stalwart skipper Stephen Fleming to retirement and Shane Bond to the IPL New Zealand can take solace from the unearthing of what looks like a rare talent- 19-yr-old Tim Southee. We saw a glimpse of him at the Twenty20 World Cup but he responded to his Test call-up with a tremendous performance. His 5/55 in his first innings was fantastic and following his tame dismissal for 5 runs with the bat he looked like a classy young bowler. Then the real party started. 77 off 40 balls in his second knock- with 9 sixes- including the 2nd fastest Test 50 of all time. It looks like the Kiwis have a star on their hands.

New Zealand come to England in 6 weeks' time for another 3-match Test Series. Can't wait.

David Beckham | Weekend Betting Preview

Another daft week in the world of sport reaches its crux and we were all a bit deflated Thursday morning after another anaemic England display. Fair play to the other Home Nations though- they all gave a good account of themselves- with Scotland holding England nemeses Croatia and David Healy cementing his reputation as an International goalscorer by banging one in at each end on Wednesday night.

Beckham trudged off after 63 minutes and, if nothing else, the moment gave England fans a chance to applaud something as they sat through yet another dismal performance. There's no doubt he's done well to get to 100 caps and he probably has an England future in matches which require his excellent delivery. Unfortunately, the tenacity and energy on which Beckham's game was built a few years ago has gone. Who knows whether this is down to his decision to sell out and move to LA Galaxy?

As usual, the tired old excuses were being wheeled out again after Wednesday night's game. We need time to adapt to a new style, we play too many games, the matches on Sunday took too much out of us...yawn, yawn, yawn.

England went back to playing their old style in the second half and were absolutely dreadful. Peter "Bambi on Ice" Crouch was woeful but this is to be expected as he isn't getting a kick for his club. And as for playing too many games, four of the French starting XI play in the Premiership. Enough with the excuses. Capello set his stall out and said he would pick players on form. Wes Brown was on the bloody pitch again! Two words. Jermaine Defoe. Next...
Fabio Capello is apparently not the linguist many thought he was as he displayed a dramatic failure to grasp the basics of the English language by describing himself as "quite happy" with the performance when he clearly meant "absolutely disgusted." According to BBC Sport, Capello also said England "played with personality". Perhaps the FA should get an interpreter with International experience to help him come to grips with the new language. Someone like Jose Mourinho?

Unfortunately one common England disappointment reared its ugly head again Wednesday night. The goalkeeper. David James has been in sensational form for Pompey over the past few seasons and, had you never seen him play for England before, he'd have been the first name on the teamsheet. However, for those of us that have seen Calamity James in action between the sticks for his country- we know that the Three Lions does silly things to him, rendering his gloves slippy and his decision-making shoddy to say the least.
The sense of déjà vu as he bent down to pick up Clerc's through ball, completely oblivious to the on-rushing Anelka, was sickening. Before the Chelsea striker had completed his triple salko after the contact with James, England supporters united in a collective groan of, "not again". The exact same thing had happened during Euro 2004 when James upended Thierry Henry. France didn't look like they needed Henry, or even Benzema. We really are struggling.

Of course it's early days, but it doesn't look like Capello's learning from his predecessors' mistakes.

St Johnstone v Clydebank

Tuesday night sees St Johnstone try and hold onto their slim hopes of winning the Scottish first Division with Clyde hanging on to there first division status. The home side have won 5 of their last eight games and more importantly have not lost a league game at home this season. With the team also now in the Scotish cup quater final things are looking up for the Saints.Although last time out they played a 0-0 draw with Partick Thistle away the match was played on a very poor pitch and only 4 days after their 3-0 up after only 30mins in the Cup quarter final. (result 1-3)Things do not get much better for Clyde who have now lost the soon to be transferred McKeown out through injury for the rest of the season. But on the other hand you will have to go back to the 5th January for the last league away defeat for Clyde.Their away form may have saved them this season.

Prediction I'm going to be backing the Saints heavily tomorrow night and I'm expecting an easy home victory by 2-3 goals.I will be backing using Billy's Shop @ 1/2 for large stakes.

Scotland relieves itchy botty time!

As some of you may know I am a Swansea City fan, we currently lie top of English League One. Just got back from the game, which was broadcast on Skysports tonight. We managed a draw 2-2 at the Liberty Stadium against BristolRovers. Some may say its two points dropped, but with only seven games to go any points now are vital, and we still have a 10 point lead over third placed Doncaster Rovers, so still looking good for automatic promotion. Roll on May!

Weekend Serie A Betting

Atalanta v Catania
In theory, this should be a shoe in for Atalanta. After a really strong start to the season, they have stuttered in recent weeks, but these results were on the road. They still managed a 4 - 1 thumping of Empoli at home and the same resuly against Sampdoria a few weeks earlier. Catania are woeful on the road and have yet to win away from home.
PREDICTION: Atalanta win.

Fiorentina v Lazio
Lazio had a few indifferent weeks at the beginning of the year. A series of toothless performances resulting in a few losses and a tame draw against Torino. Recent weeks have seen their fortunes turn, especially after the derby midweek. Incidently, Lazio have won their last 5 home games on the trot which is worth noting for next weeks game against Inter. On the road Lazio are less than impressive with 4 draws and 2 losses since the start of the year. Fiorentina are especially strong at the Artemio Franchi (their only home loss came against Milan) and following a woeful game against Napoli, they should be looking to bounce back at home. The 4th spot is far from consolidated, and a slender 4 points lead over milan could be extended today.
PREDICTION: very tight, La Viola should win, but i think a DRAW might be the wiser choice.

Inter v Juventus
Todays late kick off, and the Derby d'Italia should be a scorcher. I will try to let my love of the Bianconeri take the back burner for a moment. To be honest, Juve looked sh ite at Empoli in midweek -Just when they were starting to build a little momentum as well ! Inter are out of the CL, drew against Genoa, Had ANOTHER sending off midweek and the dressing room is still a fractous place by all accounts. Inter will look to consolidate lo scudetto this week but Juve love to stall their interdetti at every opportunity. The three fixtures between Inter and Juventus this season have seen 11 goals (including the coppa games) so methinks this will either be a goalfest, or a slender 1-1.
PREDICTION: Would say Juve look a decent proposition at the price. Inter have stalled on more than one occasion this season - would also look at the red card market and also overs.

Palermo v Genoa
Palermo are really suffering at the moment. The president ( a loon) has repeatedly undermined both coach and players this season. Amauri, Palermo's most lively player, has looked a different man in recent performances. 2 losses and 2 draws in recent weeks for the Palermitani, but this game should see a turn around. Despite a large portion of the Palermo squad looking set to jump ship in the summer, Palermo are reasonably solid at home. Genoa love to cause an upset and an away win at Udinese and a draw with Inter in recent weeks shows how resiliant they can be. Marco Borriello is still just cannoneire and simply can't stop scoring at the moment, but most importantly, Palermo have not lost at home to Genoa in over a decade (including serie B results) PREDICTION: Palermo to win and win comfortably.

Reggina v Napoli
Ahhh, how i love Napoli, these bu gg ers know how to score. Their last 0 - 0 game came no fewer than 6 months ago. They play beautiful attacking football and have some really decent talents in their side. Reggina have slipped into the relegation zone, and need points ASAP. Their recent decline in home form has momentarily been turned around thanks to a controversial win against Juve, a draw against Palermo, and a morale boosting win against Siena. They look a more hardened side with their serie A fate hanging by a thread, but i still think Napoli will cause an upset today.
PREDICTION Would lay the 0 - 0 if you can afford it, and back the overs. Would also look towards the DRAW and an AWAY win as possible outcomes

Roma v Empoli
Not a great deal to say here. Roma might be one for the accas, but would not be touching them at the 1.26 on offer. Yes they should win after a shock result against city rivals lazio in midweek, and with Empoli showing nothing of merit in their midweek draw, Roma looks solid. But with Inter clearing away by 7 points at the top of the Serie A table, a shock result is never far away when morale is low.

Sampdoria v Cagliari
How i love Sampdoria (unless they are playing against Juve!) - They are similar to Napoli in their attacking style - Love to get forward and love to score goals. They played a cracking game against the old men of milan midweek winning 2-1 and importantly undefeated at home since the 0 - 5 loss against milan way back at the end of october. Little bufolino (cassano) is still absent, but more worrying is the resurgant Cagliari . They have won 4 and lost 3 (all on the road) as they look to consolidate serie A survival. Sampdoria's home form here and Cagliaris ability to score on the road looks the key here.
PREDICTION - would back Sampdoria, and overs, would also factor in at least one goal for cagliari.

Torino v Milan
Don't you just hate Milan ??? Used to be a side you could admire, even if your team was playing against them. They have little of that spark left these days. Strikers looks anonymous with the exceptions being youn Pato and Paloschi. Midfield looks uncreative often leaving Kaka to carry them single handedly. Unsurprisingly, i hate Torino even more, but they know how to play. Serie A surivial looks consolidated for Torino, but they can by no means be complacent. Milan on the other hand, are looking likely to miss out on a CL spot altogether. La Viola have a 4 point lead against their rivals, and with their tricky game against Lazio, Milan may still stand a chance. Todays game is a must win, make no bones about it. Torino are not a push over at home, and despite my reluctance to back Milan in recent weeks (have opted to lay them in at least 5 of their recent game),
PREDICTION: I think milan are a half way decent price today at 1.96.

Udinese v Livorno
Another team i simply love to back, Udinese are another side that love to score. Livorno are another of the strugglers in Serie A. They have one home win to their name in the last 11 games, having lost the other 6 and drawn 4. Udinese will see this as a chance to maintain a push for CL football. Just 6 points behind Fiorentina, they need to keep the pressure on, despite being behind both Samp and Milan. Udinese were great midweek hanging on to 3 points away at Torino. They are woeful in defence at times, but Livorno have little going for them away from home.
PREDICTION: Would back Udinese in this game with some conifdence.

The Perv 11

Everyone has their top tens, be it the best Liverpool team of all time, best England team, but I was quite shocked while browsing the betfair forums recently. The 'Perv XI'. While it may not be everyone's cup of tea, it did give me a little chuckle.

Anyways, here it is:
Mark Bosnich
Rio Ferdinand
Celestine Babayaro
Graham ***
Mickey Thomas
Frank Lampard
Kieron Dyer
Deco
David Beckham
Stan Collymore
Wayne Rooney

Manager one of Sven Goran Erikkson/Tommy Docherty/Malcolm Allison

Ashley Hauled over the Coles | Chelsea

Ashley Cole is a naughty boy.

If anyone watched the remarkable game he was involved in, it was a great game which ended 4-4 but has been overshadowed today by the reaction of Cole after his appaling tackle on Spurs's Alan Hutton. The Chelsea man is earning over 110,000k a week, and obviously feels he can do anything he wants, be it on the field or off it, and the way he walked away from referee Mike Riley effing and blinding shows just how badly the English Premiership has become. Great players, earning great wages, acting like great dickheads.

The FA needs to step in an have a word.

Birmingham v Newcastle | Betting Preview

Coming into tonights fixture, we really like the look of Birmingham @ 13/10 with Bet365, who offer a free £250 on tonights tie, and the Over 2.5 goals at 11/10. We cant underestimate how badly Newcastle are playing at the moment. The good news for Kevin Keegan is that he has Martins, Viduka and Michael Owen fit for the game, and with Forssell and James McFadden leading the line for Birmingham, there should be goals in this one. Both these teams are terrible at defending as is the norm with a Keegan side, so the 11/10 does look more than valuable. Check out our in depth analysis on on our site here:

We win big on Middlesbrough

We win BIG on Middlesbrough @ 11/10!

It was a great weekend at free-bets.co.uk towers as we rightly picked out our 'bet of the weekend'- Middlesbrough +1.25 on the asian handicap.

We managed to get on at 11/10 on Friday morning, to ensure a nice little earner! Arsenal really seem to be struggling domestically and we will keep an eye on their fixtures for further value!
