The Weekend Betting Overview

Superbowl XLII from Phoenix on Sunday evening sees the New York Giants play a New England Patriots side who are aiming to win their fourth title in seven years, as well as trying to become the first team in NFL history to have an unblemished 19-0 season. Pats quarterback Tom Brady is 4/9 favourite to win the MVP but at betdirect you can bet on over 100 markets on the game. The last time the sides met the Patriots came from 12 points down in the third quarter to win 38-35 and they have not scored less than 20 points in their eighteen game winning streak this season. There is no love lost between the two sides and it promises to be an epic encounter. New York have been the buzzers on the handicap this week and we are still seeing heavy support for the Giants with a 12 point start on the handicap market.

There's a Tiger on the loose in the Dubai Desert with the great man 2/5 following this morning's opening 65. Henrik Stenson the current Champion is five under at time of going to press and Woods may not get things all his own way. We will be Betting In-Running throughout the four days of the Dubai Classic and will be betting without Tiger Woods after the opening round this afternoon.

Whilst the debate continues on Ronaldo's wonder goal in last night's game against Portsmouth, we've priced up an enhanced acca on the Big 4 in the Premiership (yes that still includes Liverpool). Leaders Man U to win at Spurs, Arsenal to win at Man City, Chelsea to win at Pompey and Liverpool to beat Sunderland at Anfield. The acca should pay just over 6/1 but we are enhancing this to 7/1.

Special K will be looking for his first Newcastle goal when the Magpies entertain Middlesbrough in the Tyne-Tees Derby at St James's Park on Sunday. The Geordies are 5/6 to gain Keegan's first win in his new regime with the draw at 9/4 and Boro at 3/1.

The Twenty20 International between Australia and India looks like being another volatile encounter between the two best cricket teams on the planet. A full house of 90,000 is expected at the MCG for the game which begins at 8.35 tomorrow morning UK time. Expect some fireworks from the Aussies who have not taken the decision to rescind Harbharjan Singh's three match ban lightly. Adam Gilchrist is 8/11 to outscore Virender Sehwag who is even money in the match bet.

Doncaster stages the most valuable meeting of the weekend's horse racing action but there is cracking fayre from Sandown and Wetherby, with Sunday's card from Punchestown likely to be full of Cheltenham clues (watch out for Captain Cee Bee taking on Sophocles in the novice hurdle).
